Desmosomal attachments were observed between cells in monolayer culture and cytoplasmic tonofilaments were noted. Contamination with Mycoplasma arginini was detected and eliminated in 1970. Growth of ME-180 cells is inhibited by tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF alpha). The cells contain human papillomavirus (HPV) DNA with greater homology to HPV-39 than HPV-18. |

| Subculturing: | Protocol: Remove medium, and rinse with 0.25% trypsin, 0.03% EDTA solution. Remove the solution and add an additional 1 to 2 ml of trypsin-EDTA solution.
