    Comments: This cell line was initiated on 12/14/94 from a patient with a family history of cancer (patient's mother had breast cancer).
    The cell line took 14 months to establish.
    The tumor was classified as TNM stage I, grade 3, invasive ductal carcinoma with 0 out of 34 lymph node metastasis.
    The cells are poorly differentiated and vacuolated.
    The cells are negative for expression of Her2-neu but positive for expression of p53.
    HCC1395 is positive for the epithelial cell specific marker Epithelial Glycoprotein 2 (EGP2) and for cytokeratin 19.
    The cells are negative for expression of estrogen receptors (ER -) according to depositor and negative for expression of progesterone receptors (PR -).
    An EBV transformed lymphoblastoid cell line (HCC1395BL) from the same patient is available as ATCC CRL-2325 .
    Propagation: ATCC complete growth medium: The base medium for this cell line is ATCC-formulated RPMI-1640 Medium, Catalog No. 30-2001. To make the complete growth medium, add the following components to the base medium: fetal bovine serum to a final concentration of 10%.
    Temperature: 37.0°C
    Atmosphere: air, 95%; carbon dioxide (CO2), 5%
    Subculturing: Protocol: Remove medium, and rinse with 0.25% trypsin, 0.53 mM EDTA solution. Remove the solution and add an additional 1 to 2 ml of trypsin-EDTA solution. Allow the flask to sit at room temperature (or at 37C) until the cells detach. Add fresh culture medium, aspirate and dispense into new culture flasks.
    Subcultivation Ratio: A subcultivation ratio of 1:2 is recommended
    Medium Renewal: Every 2 to 3 days
    Preservation: Freeze medium: Complete growth medium 95%; DMSO, 5%
