建议用作制备确定的脂肪酸补充剂的基础。每摩尔白蛋白最多可装载4摩尔脂肪酸。
BSA是已知的脂肪酸（FA）载体。因此，在与FA相关的应用（如细胞培养）中，特定的BSA可能很重要，因为与控制用于培养细胞系的特定脂肪酸有关；因为不同的细胞系可能对特定的FA;s具有不同的敏感性。因此，不含脂肪酸的BSA可用于细胞培养工作，其中必须仔细控制特定的脂肪酸含量，以便研究人员可以控制其特定细胞系所需的特定FA′s。不含脂肪酸的BSA还可以为研究人员希望在其特定的细胞培养实验中使用的特定脂肪酸提供最佳和最大结合位点。不含脂肪酸BSA的使用也解决了对非无脂肪酸BSA中潜在内源性FA′s的担忧。
