杂交是FISH实验最关键且周期最长的一步，任何一个细节的改进都可大大提高实验的成功率。在杂交过程中，为了防止长时间高温孵育引起杂交液的蒸发，需要加硅化盖玻片。传统的方法会选择液体石蜡封固，但是石蜡很有可能在高温下溶解导致杂交液的污染，而橡胶胶水高温下性能非常稳定且干燥后易去除，溢出的胶只需用手指抹掉或橡皮擦擦掉即可。
本品FixoGum橡胶胶水是目前国内外FISH实验中应用非常广泛的封片剂之一。使用时只需挤少量封住盖玻片四周即可。另外，Fixogum也常用于扫描电镜（scanningelectron microscopy）样品制备中用于粘附待研究样品。
