    粘着末端 cohesive end

    λ噬菌体或类似的溶原性噬菌体的DNA一般是双链的线形结构，但其中一条链两端的核苷酸的排列（λ噬菌体中是 12个核苷酸）有互补关系，因此当 DNA被注入寄主细菌体内时，或它们在试管内受到适当处理时，这两个末端便会彼此对合而形成环状 DNA分子。这种特殊的 DNA末端称作粘着末端。在末端结构与λ噬菌体不同，但在极相似的其它系统的溶原性噬菌体 DNA中，也可以发现这种粘着末端。
