Gene silencing techniques have brought new insights into mammalian oocyte and embryo development. More specifically, the use
of Morpholino oligonucleotides which sterically inhibit translation from target mRNAs thereby compromising gene function,
allowed the identification of important oocyte regulators and especially factors involved in meiotic cell cycle control. Here
we describe the method of application of Morpholino oligonucleotides in mouse oocyte research.
