脊椎动物局部卵裂胚胎的胚盘层表面上的未来胚胎形成的起始部位，由于多少有些肥厚和不透明，所以可与周边部分明显地区别开来。在无羊膜类是以此为中心开始形成原肠，在爬行类系由此产生中胚层性脊索管，在鸟类和哺乳类则形成原条。鸟类的胚盘层，因胚盾的中心为不透明的椭圆形区域，所以容易与其他部位区别开来。
