Mouse TLR3 / CD283抗体背景综述
Mouse Toll-Like Receptor 3, also known as CD283 and TLR3, is a member of the Toll-like receptor family. It contains 22 LRR (leucine-rich) repeats and 1 TIR domain. TLR3 is expressed at high level in placenta and pancreas. It is expressed most strongly in the brain, especially in astrocytes, glia, and neurons. TLR3 participates in the innate immune response to microbial agents. It is the major mediator of cellular response to viral infection, because it responds to double-stranded (ds) RNA, a common by-product of viral replication. Toll-like receptors (TLRs) play key roles in the response to pathogens and in mammals the host response to virus critically relies on TLR3 to detect viral-derived dsRNA. TLR3 acts via MYD88 and TRAF6, leading to NF-kappa-B activation, cytokine secretion and the inflammatory response. Defects in TLR3 are the cause of TLR3-deficient herpes simplex encephalitis (HSE). HSE is a rare complication of human herpesvirus 1 (HHV-1) infection, occurring in only a small minority of HHV-1 infected individuals. Genetic variation in TLR3 is associated with susceptibility to progression to geographic atrophy in age-related macular degeneration
