IL13RA2 / IL13R抗体 Background
Interleukin-13 receptor alpha2 chain(IL-13Rα2) is one of the receptor components for IL-13, a Th2 cell-derived pleiotropic immune regulatory cytokine. IL13Rα2 contains 3 fibronectin type-III domains, and binds as a monomer with high affinity to IL-13. IL-13Rα2 exists both on the cell membrane and in soluble form intracellularly which are generated from distinct transcripts. IL-13Rα2 was initially cloned from a kidney cell line and then found to be expressed in brain, spleen, liver, thymus, and also in the bone marrow, which are hemopoietic or hypervascular tissues. Soluble IL-13Rα2 was found in multiple mouse organs and was up-regulated in lungs following allergen challenge. IL-13Rα2 is expressed on certain types of cancer cells including glioblastoma, AIDS Kaposi's sarcoma, and head and neck cancer. In a IL13Rα2 transgenic mice model, the antitumor activity of IL13-PE, a receptor-directed cytotoxin was profoundly enhanced, providing elimination of established tumor in some xenografts. Comparisons of the human and murine receptors show that they are structurally conserved, share 59% aa identity.
