【背景资料】：DL-Propargylglycine (DL-PAG) is an irreversible inhibitor of the hydrogen sulfide (H2S) synthesizing enzyme cystathionine-γ-lyase (CSE). Acts through targeting the pyridoxal phosphate (PLP) binding site of CSE. Also inhibits other PLP-dependent and -independent enzymes so may exert significant effects independent of CSE inhibition. Background: H2S, a well known and pungent gas, has been found to be synthesised enzymatically in mammalian and human tissues and as a result has attracted substantial interest as an endogenous gaseous mediator and potential target for pharmacological manipulation. Studies in animals and humans have shown H2S to be involved in diverse physiological and pathophysiological processes, such as learning and memory, neurodegeneration, regulation of inflammation and blood pressure (vasodilator), and metabolism.
