一般描述:乙(yǐ)二胺四乙酸二钠盐二水合物或EDTA是广泛使用的二价阳离子如Ca⁺²的螯合剂。它可以抑制金属离子依赖性蛋白酶，如钙依赖性半胱氨酸蛋白酶。EDTA还可作为锌离子的螯合剂，抑制需要锌来活化的金属蛋白酶。
应用:乙(yǐ)二胺四乙酸二钠盐二水合物与Na2HPO4和柠檬酸一起用于制备Na2EDTA-McIlvaine缓冲液。乙(yǐ)二胺四乙酸二钠盐二水合物的水溶液也已用于光催化制氢
二价阳离子的螯合剂。对需要二价阳离子发挥活性的酶，比如金属蛋白酶具有抑制作用。
