指培养细胞通过繁殖，在单位容积培养液中或单位培养容器底面。可以达到的最大的细胞密度。来自正常组织的培养细胞饱和密度低，当它由癌症等的作用而发生性状转化时，则将增高 5～ 10倍，所以可以作为细胞性状转化的一个指标。
