This review attempts to cover a broad range of literature on the analysis of psychotropic drugs in tiβues and body fluids, A considerable emphasis on the quantification of plasma drug levels will be found because this is an area that has generated most of the published analytical procedures. Concentrations of these drugs in tiβues, urine, and spinal fluid samples are easily quantifiable using very minor modifications of these procedures. A rationale for aβuming that plasma level concentrations of these drugs and their metabolites reflect the concentration of these compounds in the biophase surrounding the CNS receptor follows.
