白细胞介素 36(IL-36)属于白细胞介素 1(IL-1)家族的成员,分为
IL-36α,IL-36β和 IL-36γ,三个亚型。它们有共同的受体 IL-36R，可与 IL-1
受体辅助蛋白(IL-36RAcP)相结合形成二聚体，IL-36 可以活化 MAPK、
NF-κB 信号级联途径,影响和调控多种趋化因子、炎症介质和黏附分子的
表达和释放,在疾病发生发展中具有重要作用。人类 IL-1 家族成员氨基
酸序列具有相似性，相似率从 52％(IL-36Ra 与 IL-1Ra)～13％(IL-36Ra
与 IL-18)。IL-36a、IL-36β、及 IL36γ与 IL-1 及人 IL-IRa 有 21％-37％的
氨基酸序列同源，在分子结构和功能上亦有很高的相似度。
