Brassinolide is a plant sterol first isolated from pollen of rape(Brassica napus L.),Brassinolide could promote stem elongation and cell division.
in vitro:Caspase-3 activity was obviously increased after brassinolide treatment.Western blot studies indicated that treatment with brassinolide triggered a time-dependent decrease in the expression of anti-apoptotic protein Bcl-2[1]. After treatment of brassinolide under the concentration of 0.001 - 10.0 microg x mL(-1),the resistance of CCRF-VCR was reversed partly with the reversing folds respectively as 4.4 - 11.6[2]. After brassinolide treatment,the expression of p53 in CCRF-VCR cells restored to the level of sensitive cells.
in vivo:After oral administration of Brassinolide for consecutive 7 days(once every day),the levels of blood glucose were evaluated on the day 0 and the day 7[3].
