以嘌呤核为碱基部分的核苷的总称。把含有腺嘌呤、鸟嘌呤和次黄嘌呤（ hypoxanthine）的分别称为腺嘌呤核苷（腺苷）、鸟嘌呤核苷（鸟苷）和次黄嘌呤核苷。
核苷磷酸化酶 nucleoside phosphorylase
以次黄苷 磷酸次黄嘌呤 核糖 -1-磷酸的方式，参与将核苷加磷酸分解成五碳糖磷酸反应的酶之总称。已知有几种对底物的特异性不同，如嘌呤核苷磷酸化酶（ EC2． 4． 2． 1）对鸟苷、脱氧鸟苷、次黄苷、脱氧次黄苷具有作用，它存在于脾、肺、肝、心肌、红血球、酵母中，小肠和血液中也有少量存在。另外已知嘧啶核苷磷酸化酶是对尿苷和胸腺苷分别具有特异性的酶。推测主要是分解核苷或具有供给合成其它核苷所需的核糖磷酸的作用。
