一般描述
Xba I可识别序列T↓*CTAGA并产生具有 5′-粘性末端的片段。该酶在切割位点之前，需要目标序列周围至少有两个核苷酸。
相容末端
Xba I末端与Avr I、Nhe I和Spe I生成的片段相容。
同裂酶
尚不清楚该酶是否具有同裂酶。
甲基化敏感性
DNA的Xba I消化受到大肠杆菌的dam基因产物的抑制，该基因产物使GATC序列中腺嘌呤的6N位置甲基化。在识别序列的标注位点 (*) 上的5-甲基胞嘧啶或5-羟甲基胞嘧啶也能抑制该酶活性。
