General description
Fab fragments from monoclonal antibody to 5-bromo-2′-deoxyuridine-5′-monophosphate, conjugated with horseradish peroxidase.
Specificity
The antibody reacts with the thymidine analogue 5-bromo-2′-deoxyuridine (BrdU) and with cellular DNA that contains incorporated BrdU; it shows no crossreactivity with other cellular components. The antibody may be applied for the qualitative measurement of cell proliferation (BrdU incorporation) on a single-cell level, and for quantitative measurement in a cell population by ELISA.
Immunogen
The epitope is apparently inside the DNA helix. DNA has to be denatured to ssDNA before antibody efficiently binds to DNA-BrdU.
Application
Anti-bromodeoxyuridine antibody is suitable for monitoring proliferating cells in blood, tissues, and tumors, as well as for determining BrdU incorporation on a single-cell level using:
