Fatty acid binding protein (liver) (L-FABP) binds free fatty acids and their coenzyme A derivatives, bilirubin, and some other small molecules in the cytoplasm. It is also involved in intracellular lipid transport. Recombinant L-FABP comprises a 127 amino acid fragment (1-127) corresponding to the human liver FABP protein and is expressed in E. coli with an amino-terminal hexahistidine tag.
