Bioactivity：Plumbagin or 5-hydroxy-2-methyl-1,4-naphthoquinone is an organic compound with the chemical formula C 11H 8O 3. It is regarded as a toxin[1] and it is genotoxic[2] and mutagenic.[3] Plumbagin is a yellow dye,[1] formally derived from naphthoquinone. 文献和实验茅膏菜 全草有毒，球形块根药用称“一粒金丹”，和同属的锦地罗等，均含蓝雪醌（矶松素； plumbagin）、茅膏菜醌（ droserone）、羟基萘醌（ hydroxynaphthoguinone）等多种醌类成分，可供药用，粘液腺分泌物含类似胰酶的蛋白酶。捕蝇草供观赏。 貉藻属种子的化石见于英国第三纪地层，前貉藻见于德国褐炭层中。
树皮甙（ myricetrin）、四羟基黄酮（ tetrahy－ droxyflavone）等，常用作强壮剂和收敛剂；许多种类是闻名的鞣料植物和染料植物；白花丹属、小蓝花丹属等多含矶松素（ plumbagin），为刺激和强腐蚀剂，入药可治某些寄生虫病。蓝雪花属和白花丹属常作观赏植物栽培于庭园，也供药用。
