Serum amyloid P component / APCS抗体 Background
Serum amyloid P component (SAP), also known as APCS AND Ptx2, is a 25kDa pentameric protein first identified as the pentagonal constituent of pathological deposits called "amyloid". SAP is a member of the pentraxins family, characterised by calcium dependent ligand binding and distinctive flattened β-jellyroll structure similar to that of the legume lectins. SAP has a marked inhibitory effect on the proliferative response of lymphocytes to a variety of T-dependent mitogens. In addition, SAP enhances the formation of active E rosettes, a marker of activated T cells. SAP has certain sequence homology with C-reactive protein (CRP), a classical acute phase response plasma protein, and both of which are evolutionary conserved in all vertebrates and also found in distant invertebrates.
