【背景资料】：Left-Right Determination Factor 1 (LEFTY1) belongs to the TGF-beta family of proteins. LEFTY1 is required for left-right axis determination as a regulator of LEFTY2 and NODAL. An analogous secreted protein in mouse has a role in left-right asymmetry determination of organ systems during development. The LEFTY1 gene is closely linked to both a related family member and a related pseudogene.
