This polyclonal antibody developed in rabbit is highly specific against HIV-I Rev protein. Rev is an essential regulatory protein of HIV-I. The immunogen was prepared as glutathione-s-transferase fusion protel expressed
in vitro (E. coli
). This antibody recognizes wild type Rev protein produced both
in vivo
(expression in cos.cv-1 and HeLa cell lines) and
in vitro
(bacterial expression system and
in vitro
translation products). Extremely low cross reactivity with other
E. coli
proteins is observed on western blot. Anti-HIV Rev (PAB) recognizes epitopes from both human and rat sources. The tyrosine kinase activity of immunoprecipitated antigen is retained and higher immunoprecipitation is observed than with monoclonal anti-Rev.
