Disks large-associated protein 2 (DLGAP2), also known as SAPAP2, is a membrane-associated scaffolding protein predominantly expressed in the brain, particularly within the postsynaptic density (PSD) of excitatory synapses. It interacts with key synaptic proteins such as PSD-95 (DLG4) and SHANKs, forming complexes that are crucial for synaptic organization and signal transduction. DLGAP2 plays a significant role in maintaining synaptic structure and function, and its dysregulation has been implicated in various neurodevelopmental and psychiatric disorders, including autism spectrum disorder and schizophrenia.
