B7H4又称为B7-S1或者VTCN1，是I型跨膜蛋白。在正常健康组织中B7H4处于相对低的表达水平，在很多实体瘤，如乳腺癌，卵巢癌，子宫内膜癌中是高表达的，并且其表达水平和预后情况呈负相关。
因为其同样属于B7家族，实验证明其可以和T细胞结合，并且抑制T细胞的活性。因为其在肿瘤细胞表面处于过表达状态，和病人治疗获益呈负相关，同时作为T细胞共抑制检查点，B7H4似乎是一个理想的治疗实体瘤的靶点。
