General description
L-threonine is a naturally occurring amino acid belonging to the aspartic acid family. [1]
application
L-threonine has been used for the following purposes:
Study the effect of high temperature on the activity of high serine kinase [2]
Plackett Burman analysis and study of the effects of selected amino acids on monoclonal antibody production in CHO cells [3]
Determination of L-threonine dehydrogenase activity as a substrate [4]
Study the effect of L-threonine on the growth rate of Pseudomonas aeruginosa and examine its tolerance to L-threonine [5]
Biochemical/physiological effects
L-threonine is considered an essential amino acid. L-threonine is involved in the synthesis of mucin, a protein that supports intestinal function and integrity. L-threonine is essential for the immune system to function. It is also necessary for O-linked glycosylation, protein phosphorylation, and glycine synthesis.
