Most commonly used prokaryotic expression vectors fall into one of the following three categories:

They have a low copy number and a low yield of single-stranded DNA,

They have a high copy number and the ability to produce a high yield of single-stranded DNA, but require a suitable host to achieve an inducible protein expression; or

3. |
They lack the ability to produce single-stranded DNA.
