文昌鱼及脊椎动物的血管，其中由胃、肠、胰脏、脾脏和肠系膜向心脏走行的各静脉，在肝脏内又分成毛细血管，形成所谓门脉。以后，毛细血管网又集中，作为肝静脉而出肝脏。鱼类，肝静脉直接开口于静脉窦，高等脊椎动物，左、右肝静脉合成大静脉。肝脏内的毛细血管网，在发生学上起源于脐肠系膜静脉（vena omphalomesenterica）。
