核定位信号的受体蛋白, 存在于胞质溶胶中, 可与核定位信号结合, 帮助核蛋白进入细胞核, 这种受体称为输入蛋白。它们作为一种穿梭受体(shuttling receptor)在细胞质内与核蛋白的核定位信号结合, 然后一起穿过核, 在核内与亲核蛋白分离后再返回到细胞质中。输入蛋白有α和β两种亚基。
