　　胸腺嘧啶饥饿 thymineless death 把胸腺嘧啶缺陷型的细菌菌株转移到没有胸腺嘧啶的培养基中继续培养时的细胞死亡现象。在胸腺嘧啶饥饿状态下， DHA合成虽被抑制，但由于 RNA和蛋白质可继续合成，以致造成细胞增殖的不均衡，而促成细胞死亡，但致死作用的详情尚不清楚。如果使溶原性细菌处于胸腺嘧啶饥饿状态，往往可诱发噬菌体的增殖。
