【背景知识】
Praalbumin（转甲状腺素蛋白）是一种在肝脏、大脑和视网膜中产生的转运蛋白。它通过血清和脑脊液转运甲状腺素 (T,) 和视黄醇结合蛋白。它的名字来源于它的功能（转运甲状腺素和视黄醇）以及它在电泳凝胶中运行在白蛋白（前白蛋白）之前的事实。
Praalbumin/transthyretin 是一种 55kDa 同型四聚体。每个单体长127个氨基酸，富含β-折叠结构。两个单体结合形成二聚体，两个二聚体形成最终的同源四聚体，共具有两个甲状腺素结合位点。
转甲状腺素蛋白在炎症反应过程中会减少，因此是一种抗急性期蛋白。转甲状腺素蛋白基因的突变会导致血液中转甲状腺素蛋白的长期低水平，从而导致淀粉样变性。由于所有蛋白质，转甲状腺素蛋白的比例最高必需氨基酸含量高，生物半衰期短，1-2天，可用于诊断蛋白质缺乏状态和肝脏合成障碍。
