    Klotho 蛋白，即 Klotho 和 Klotho β（beta KL），是 I 型跨膜糖蛋
    白，其细胞外区域含有两个β-糖苷酶样重复序列。Klotho 具有膜结合型
    和可溶型两种形式；可溶型占主导地位，仅由第一个β-糖苷酶样重复序
    列组成。Klotho 具有针对某些类固醇β-葡萄糖醛酸的β-葡萄糖醛酸酶活
    性，似乎能调节血清中钙和维生素 D 的水平，并与早衰有关。
    Klotho β是糖苷酶 I 超家族中结构不同的成员，主要在肝脏和胰腺
    中表达，在脂肪组织中的表达量较低。Klotho β能介导肝脏中的 FGF-15
    （人类 FGF-19）与 FGF 受体 4 的相互作用，后者通过控制两个关键
    胆汁酸合成酶基因的分泌来负向调节胆汁酸的合成。Klotho β还是脂肪
    细胞中 FGF-21 与 FGF 受体 1c 相互作用的辅助因子。Klotho β的表达
    模式表明它可能在脂质代谢中发挥作用。
