Magnesium chloride hexahydrate has been used to prepare renaturation buffer that is employed for the renaturation of denatured peptidoglycan (PGN) hydrolytic enzymes.[4] It may be used as a catalyst in the preparation of 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2-(1H)-ones.[5][6]
General description
Magnesium chloride hexahydrate (MgCl2·6H2O) is an inorganic salt that can be generated from the acid leach solution of magnesite tailings.[1] It is a potential phase change material (PCM) for storing thermal energy in solar cookers. The result of altering poly (vinyl alcohol)(PVA) films with MgCl2·6H2O has been investigated.[2] The ability of MgCl2·6H2O to reduce the flammability of cotton fabrics has been studied.[3]
