Vasopressin has a direct antidiuretic action on the kidney and also causes vasoconstriction of the peripheral vessels. Defects in AVP-NPII are the cause of autosomal dominant and recessive neurohypophyseal diabetes insipidus (ADNDI and ARNDI). |
