Carbonic Anhydrase 1 (CA1) is a cytosolic enzyme, belonging to the alpha-carbonic anhydrase family. It is highly expressed in erythrocytes and acts as an early marker for erythroid differentiation. Carbonic anhydrase 1 plays a improtant role in many biological processes such as calcification, cellular respiration, bone resorption, acid-base balance. It is activated by imidazole, histamine, L-adrenaline, L- and D-histidine, and L- and D-phenylalanine. At the same time, It is inhibited by sulfonamide derivatives and coumarins. In addition, CA1 is a zinc metalloenzyme that has reversible hydration of carbon dioxide. It can hydrate cyanamide to urea.

Serpin B3, also known as squamous cell carcinoma antigen-1 (SCCA-1), is a member of the serpin superfamily of serine protease inhibitors. Serpin B3 belongs to the subgroup ovalbumin-related serpins which are involved in the regulation of apoptosis, inflammation, angiogenesis and embryogenesis. It may act as a papain-like cysteine protease inhibitor to modulate the host immune response against tumor cells. It also functions as an inhibitor of UV-induced apoptosis via suppression of the activity of c-Jun NH(2)-terminal kinase (JNK1).

Chondroadherin is a secreted protein that belongs to the small leucine-rich proteoglycan (SLRP) family of SLRP class IV subfamily. Chondroadherin contains one LRRCT domain, one LRRNT domain, and nine LRR (leucine-rich) repeats. It presents in chondrocytes at all ages. Chondroadherin is initially found as a 36-kD matrix protein isolated from bovine cartilage. It is shown to mediate chondrocyte-matrix interactions. Chondroadherin promotes attachment of chondrocytes, fibroblasts, and osteoblasts. This binding is mediated (at least for chondrocytes and fibroblasts) by the integrin α2β1. Chondroadherin may play an important role in the regulation of chondrocyte growth and proliferation.
