关于IL-17/IL-17A：
Interleukin-17 is a potent pro-inflammatory cytokine produced by activated memory T cells. There are at least six members of the IL-17 family in humans and in mice. As IL-17 shares properties with IL-1 and TNF-alpha, it may induce joint inflammation and bone and cartilage destruction. This cytokine is found in synovial fluids of patients with rheumatoid arthritis, and produced by rheumatoid arthritis synovium. It increases IL-6 production, induces collagen degradation and decreases collagen synthesis by synovium and cartilage and proteoglycan synthesis in cartilage. IL-17 is also able to increase bone destruction and reduce its formation. Blocking of interleukin-17 with specific inhibitors provides a protective inhibition of cartilage and bone degradation.

Endothelial cell-specific molecule–1 (ESM-1)—so-called endo*(代"c")an—is a novel endothelium derived soluble dermatan sulfate proteoglycan (PG) that is constitutively expressed by endothelial cells in lungs and kidneys and can be detected in human blood. It is encoded by the ESM1 gene. The expression of this gene is regulated by several cytokines and growth factors, such as vascular endothelial growth factor. Inflammatory cytokines, such as interleukin (IL)-1β and tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, stimulate the upregulation of endo*(代"c")an mRNA and the secretion of endo*(代"c")an from endothelial cells. The binding of circulating endo*(代"c")an to leukocyte ligand for ICAM-1—Lymphocyte Function-associated Antigen-1 (LFA-1) and to leukocyte ligand for VCAM-1—Very Late Antigen-4 (VLA-4) is important in leukocyte adhesion and interaction with activated endothelium.
