Defects in Pax-2 are responsible for isolated renal hypoplasia as observed in oligomeganephronia, a rare congenital and usually sporadic anomaly characterized by bilateral renal hypoplasia, with a reduced number of enlarged nephrons and without urinary tract abnormalities. |
