ACO2 Antibody recognizes endogenous levels of total ACO2 protein.
Source / Purification
Polyclonal antibodies are produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues surrounding Gly540 of human ACO2 protein. Antibodies are purified by protein A and peptide affinity chromatography.
Western Blotting
Western blot analysis of extracts from various cell lines using ACO2 Antibody.
IF-IC
Confocal immunofluorescent analysis of SK-MEL-5 cells using ACO2 Antibody (green). Actin filaments were labeled using DY-554 Phalloidin (red). Blue pseudocolor = DRAQ5® #4084 (fluorescent DNA dye).
Background
Aconitase 2 (ACO2) catalyzes the conversion of citrate to isocitrate via cis-aconitate in the second step of the tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle (1,2). ACO2 also is an important regulator of iron homeostasis within cells (1-4). In addition, this enzyme is found to be deficient in the mitochondrial disease Friedreich Ataxia (4,5).
