Description 
Monoclonal Antibody against Microtubule-Associated Protein 2 (MAP 2) Intended Use **Research Use Only (RUO)**
This product is sold for laboratory research use only, not for human or in-vivo use.Clone SMI-52 Form Ascites Fluid (contains 0.01M sodium azide) Host Mouse Species Reactivity MAP2 (SMI 52) Monoclonal AntibodyMammalian, Xenopus IsoType IgG1 Specificity SMI 52 reacts with microtubule-associated protein 2 (MAP2). This antibody reacts with most mammalian species and with frog tissue. SMI 52 recognizes neuronal cell bodies and dendrites in tissue sections and cell cultures. In immunoblots of brain cytoskeletal preparations, SMI 52 reacts with MAP2a and b and also with a doublet at 68 kDa that may represent MAP2c Uses This antibody is effective in immunoblotting, immunocytochemistry and ELISA. Suggested Working Dilution The optimal working dilution should be determined for each specific assay condition. - Western blot: 1:1,000*

The extent of permissible dilution of SMI 52 beyond those recommended for general application depends upon nature and concentration of the antigen examined, species of the antigen, method of fixation and kind of section examined.
Notes MAP2 (SMI 52) Monoclonal AntibodyPredicted MW = 280 kDa Tissue Preparation: SMI 52 reacts on Western blots, paraffin, vibratome and frozen tissue sections as well as cell cultures. Tissues can be fixed in a variety of paraformaldehyde or formaldehyde-containing fixatives. Post-fixation in cold methanol or methanol/hydrogen peroxide enhances access of SMI 52 to neurons in frozen sections or thick Vibratome tissue sections or in tissue cultures. Storage Store at -20°C. Upon initial thawing, apportion into working aliquots and store at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles to prevent denaturing the antibody. For long-term storage, keep the antibody at -80°C.
