Monoclonal Antibody against Cytokeratin 19, clone RCK 108 Intended Use **Research Use Only (RUO)**
This product is sold for laboratory research use only, not for human or in-vivo use.Clone RCK 108 Form Cell Culture Supernatant (dialysed against 0.05M Tris/HCl, pH 7.2 + 0.015M sodium azide) Host Mouse Species Reactivity Human IsoType Cytokeratin 19 (RCK 108) Monoclonal Antibody IgG1 Specificity Cytokeratin 19 (CK 19) belongs to the intermediate filaments, which create a cytoskeleton in almost all cells. In contrast to other intermediate filaments, cytokeratins (CKs) are made up of a highly complex multigene family of polypeptides with molecular masses ranging from 40 to 68 kDa. Twenty distinct CK polypeptides have been revealed in various human epithelial cells. They can be divided into an acidic (type I) and a neutral-basic (type II) subfamily. CK 19 belongs to the acidic type of cytokeratins, and is a low molecular mass cytokeratin (40 kDa) typically expressed in simple epithelia, superficial, intermediate and basal cells of transitional epithelium as well as luminal, basal and myoepithelial cells in a few complex epithelia. CK 19 is normally not expressed in stratified squamous epithelia, but may be present in modified squamous epithelium invaded by lymphocytes as well as in basal cells in non-keratinizing stratified squamous epithelium.
In Western blotting of cytoskeleton preparations from the T24 and RT4 cell lines as well as the human squamous carcinoma cell line HaCaT, the antibody labels a single band of 40 kDa corresponding to CK 19.
In immunocytochemistry on different human tissues, the antibody labels only epithelia, whereas cells known not to contain CK 19, e.g. hepatocytes, are not labeled.
Cells labelled by the antibody display a cytoplasmic staining pattern.
This antibody was developed against a cytoskeletal preparation from human bladder cancer cell line T24.Uses This antibody is effective in immunoblotting, immunocytochemistry (ICC) and immunohistochemistry (IHC). Suggested Working Dilution The optimal working dilution should be determined for each specific assay condition. - Western blot: 1:50 - 1:100*

Paraffin sections: The antibody can be used for labelling formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections fixed in formalin. Pre-treatment of tissues with proteinase K or heat-induced epitope retrieval is required. The tissue sections should not dry out during the treatment or during the following immunocytochemical staining procedure.
Frozen sections and cell preparations: The antibody can be used for labelling frozen sections.Notes *Predicted MW = 40kDa
