Lipocalin-2 / LCN2 / NGAL抗体

Lipocalin-2 (LCN2), also known as neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL), was originally identified as a protein stored in specific granules of the human neutrophil and has interaction with neutrophil gelatinases (MMP-9). NGAL is expressed in bone marrow and most tissues that are prone to exposure to microorganisms, and is synthesized in granulocytes and epithelial cells in pathological conditions, such as inflammation and malignancy. Lipocalin-2 has been implicated in a variety of processes including cell differentiation, proliferation, survival and morphogenesis. In addition, NGAL is expressed in a variety of tumor types including breast, ovary and pancreatic carcinomas, and it is suggested that lipocalin-2 has at least two functions related to tumorigenesis, one involving apoptosis induction of normal hematopoietic cells and the other being tissue invasion by leukemia cells. Recent studies have revealed that NGAL plays an important role in the physiopathology of chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML) mediated by BCR-ABL.
