SynCam / CADM1抗体 Background
Cell Adhesion Molecules (CAMs) are proteins located on the cell surface involved with the binding with other cells or with the extracellular matrix (ECM) in the process called cell adhesion. These proteins are typically transmembrane receptors and are composed of three domains: an intracellular domain that interacts with the cytoskeleton, a transmembrane domain, and an extracellular domain that interacts either with other CAMs of the same kind (homophilic binding) or with other CAMs or the extracellular matrix (heterophilic binding). Cell adhesion molecule 1, also known as Immunoglobulin superfamily member 4, Nectin-like protein 2, CADM1, IGSF4, and IGSF4A, is a single-pass type I membrane protein which belongs to the nectin family. CADM1 contains two Ig-like C2-type (immunoglobulin-like) domains and one Ig-like V-type (immunoglobulin-like) domain. CADM1 mediates heterophilic cell-cell adhesion with CADM3 and PVRL3 in a Ca2+-independent manner. CADM1 acts as a tumor suppressor in non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cells. CADM1 may be involved in neuronal migration, axon growth, pathfinding, and fasciculation on the axons of differentiating neurons. CADM1 may play diverse roles in the spermatogenesis including in the adhesion of spermatocytes and spermatids to Sertoli cells and for their normal differentiation into mature spermatozoa.
