为蟾蜍（ Bufo vulgaris）毒腺分泌的白色粘稠毒液。系中药蟾酥的成分，一直用作治疗慢性心脏病的强心剂。通过威兰德（ H． O． Wieland）和小竹无二雄的研究，其化学结构已阐明，它是甾类苷和辛二酰精氨酸等多种成分的结合物。主要的是蟾毒配基 B酯、蟾蜍精（ bufagin）、华蟾毒配基（ cinobufa-gin），蟾蜍毒配基（ gamabufogenin）。

乌本苷是钠钾ATP酶的专一抑制剂。一些中药成分如蟾酥中的蟾蜍精类化合物，知母皂苷元等也有强烈的抑制作用。 钠钾ATP酶在膜上有一定排列；高亲和力K 结合部位与乌本苷结合部位在质膜外侧，高亲和力Na 结合部位与ATP结合部位在质膜内侧。提纯的钠钾ATP酶与磷脂一起可以形成膜结晶。钠钾ATP酶的反应也是可逆的，把提纯的钠钾ATP酶重新组合到脂质体膜中，如果在膜二侧有方向相反的钠钾离子梯度，可以催化ADP与无机磷酸重新合成ATP。 肌浆网系 Ca2 －ATP
