Background Information

Insulin‑like growth factor‑1 (IGF‑1), also known as somatomedin C, is a hormone structurally similar to insulin. It is primarily secreted by the liver as an endocrine factor, but it can also be produced locally in tissues via paracrine or autocrine mechanisms. IGF‑1 is a key activator of the AKT signaling pathway, promoting cell growth and proliferation while effectively inhibiting apoptosis. Assay Principle
