Product Overview

Stemgent™ Purified Rat anti-Mouse/Human CD44 antibody was screened on normal human mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) by immunocytochemistry (ICC) and flow cytometry (FC) and selected as the best CD44 antibody available for characterizing and/or isolating human mesenchymal stem cells. CD44 is an 80-95 kD glycoprotein (also known as Hermes, Pgp1, H-CAM, or HUTCH) and is expressed on all leukocytes, endothelial cells, and hepatocytes. In addition, CD44 is one of the essential surface molecules expressed on human MSC from bone marrow and other sources1-3. CD44 is an adhesion molecule involved in leukocyte attachment, rolling onto endothelial cells, homing to peripheral lymphoid organs and sites of inflammation, and leukocyte aggregation. Many cancer cell types and their metastases express high levels of CD444-5.
