背景介绍
Killer cell immunoglobulin-like receptors (KIRs) are a diverse family of inhibitory and activating receptors expressed on NK cells and a subset of T cells (PMID: 11861603). These polymorphic receptors interact with specific motifs on HLA class I molecules, modulate NK cytolytic activity and are encoded by genes located on chromosome 19q13.4 (PMID: 17069649). KIR2DS5, also known as CD158g or NKAT9, is an activating human NK cell receptor that recognizes C2 epitopes of HLA-C alleles (PMID: 8662091; 28685972). It is a transmembrane protein consisting of an extracellular region containing two C2-type Ig-like domains, a transmembrane region, and a truncated cytoplasmic domain that lacks the immunoreceptor tyrosine-based inhibitory motifs (ITIMs) (PMID: 8662091). KIR2DS5 is expressed on a discrete subset of peripheral blood NK cells and is involved in activating NK cells citotoxicity and cytokine production such as IFN-gamma (PMID: 18624290).
