IFN-alpha2 (Interferon-alpha 2) is a subtype of the Type I interferon family, which plays a critical role in the immune response to viral infections and certain cancers. It is a cytokine that signals through the IFNAR receptor complex (IFNAR1 and IFNAR2) to activate the JAK-STAT signaling pathway, leading to the expression of interferon-stimulated genes (ISGs). These genes have antiviral, antiproliferative, and immunomodulatory effects.
