Histone deacetylase 7 (HDAC7) is a member of the class IIa histone deacetylase family, which plays a crucial role in the epigenetic regulation of gene expression. Like other HDACs, HDAC7 functions by removing acetyl groups from lysine residues on histone tails, leading to chromatin condensation and transcriptional repression.
