GDP-L-fucose synthase (TSTA3) is an enzyme involved in the biosynthesis of GDP-L-fucose, a critical sugar nucleotide required for the synthesis of fucosylated glycans. These glycans are important components of glycoproteins and glycolipids, playing essential roles in cell signaling, adhesion, and immune responses. TSTA3 catalyzes the conversion of GDP-4-keto-6-deoxy-D-mannose into GDP-L-fucose, which is then utilized in the addition of fucose residues to cell surface molecules, such as selectins and integrins.
