Voltage-gated calcium channel subunit alpha Cav1.2 is a critical component of L-type calcium channels, which are responsible for the influx of calcium ions into cells in response to membrane depolarization. Cav1.2 plays a key role in various physiological processes, including muscle contraction, neurotransmitter release, and hormone secretion.
